Recently, the Tree Top Flyer Tree Service crew completed a challenging tree removal project in Chapel Hill involving a large hickory tree located extremely close to both a home and an outdoor AC unit. Because of the limited space and the risk of damage to nearby structures, this wasn’t a job where the tree could simply be felled in one piece. Removing a dead tree is never something homeowners should put off, especially when the tree is located near valuable property or healthy surrounding trees. Recently, the Tree Top Flyer Tree Service team completed the removal of a dead elm tree from a tight backyard in Chapel Hill where careful planning and precision were essential.

This particular elm tree had died and become a potential hazard, but the location made the removal more complex than a typical tree removal project. The tree was situated in a confined backyard surrounded by other trees and nearby property that needed to be protected throughout the process. When a large pine tree develops deep cracks and advanced decay, it becomes a serious safety hazard — especially when it’s positioned directly over a home. That was exactly the challenge we faced on a recent job in Chapel Hill. The customer contacted us after noticing significant cracking and decay in the trunk of a mature pine tree. The tree was in a very difficult location: hanging directly over the roof of the house with a fence running underneath it. There was almost no room for error. (more…)

This massive tree had seen better days. Standing on a rural property between a goat house and a chicken house, the large hardwood had developed a major horizontal crack along with visible decay at the base of the trunk. With dead limbs already falling and clear structural weakness, the tree had become a serious hazard to the surrounding buildings.
