This massive tree had seen better days. Standing on a rural property between a goat house and a chicken house, the large hardwood had developed a major horizontal crack along with visible decay at the base of the trunk. With dead limbs already falling and clear structural weakness, the tree had become a serious hazard to the surrounding buildings.
The property owner made the right call by contacting Tree Top Flyer Tree Service before the tree failed on its own.
The Challenge
This was a large, mature hardwood with significant damage at the base. One strong storm or heavy wind could have easily brought it down onto one of the nearby structures. The biggest challenge was the tight landing zone between the two buildings. There was very little margin for error, and the tree needed to be dropped with precision.
After evaluating the tree and surrounding area, we developed a plan for a controlled felling that would safely place the tree directly between the goat house and chicken house without causing damage to either structure.
How We Removed It
Rather than dismantling the entire tree piece by piece, our climber ascended the tree to set a high pull line and remove a few key limbs that could have interfered with the fall path. Once the tree was properly prepared, we used careful planning, experience, and controlled directional felling techniques to bring the entire tree down cleanly between the two buildings in one precise shot.
Jobs like this require confidence, attention to detail, and years of experience reading tree lean, weight distribution, and tension. What may look simple from the ground is actually the result of deliberate planning and skilled execution.
The before photo below shows just how large and compromised this tree had become.
Removing a large, structurally compromised tree like this one is extremely dangerous without the proper equipment and experience. Attempting a removal of this scale on your own can easily result in serious property damage, severe personal injury, damage to surrounding trees and structures, and expensive cleanup or repair costs if something goes wrong.
At Tree Top Flyer Tree Service, safety and precision come first on every project. Our experienced, fully insured crew is equipped to handle hazardous tree removals, storm-damaged trees, trimming, stump grinding, and more.
